About the Course
Each person in England will know seven people on GLP-1 drugs, such as Ozempic, meaning we will be seeing clients on these drugs. This CPD gives therapists the knowledge to nod knowingly when they see these clients.
As with antidepressants, we need to have some basic knowledge of the medications clients have been prescribed. This CPD enables therapists to incorporate some of the relevant information into brain revision, such as how these medication affects both the brain and the body.
The CPD will also enable delegates to think about some currently unusual areas of work:
- Sudden weight loss bringing on an identity crisis, who am I?
- Having to deal with the side effects of these drugs.
- Not wanting to eat, at all!
- Coming to terms with a change in their body shape.
Delegates will also understand how we need to amend our marketing to attract weight loss clients now that there’s a ‘magic pill’ and the impact these drugs might have on hypnotherapy businesses.

Nicola has been looking at the area of GLP-1 drugs since she was advised to take them herself for blood sugar stabilisation. On her journey she discovered many positives and quite a few negatives and has run CPDs on the subject with very positive feedback. One delegate saying “It was far more interesting than she’d anticipated”!
Nicola trained with David Newton in 2007 and by 2009 had a strong full-time practice in place. She qualified as a supervisor in 2012; became a Lecturer for CPHT Belfast in 2015 and was awarded a Fellowship of the AfSFH in 2022.
