About the Course
This half-day CPD will enable you to work more confidently with clients experiencing OCD, and explain the benefits of the solution focused approach to help overcome OCD.
It will highlight how to tailor the brain explanation and therapy sessions. We will explore topics such as how OCD is diagnosed, current thinking on the causes of OCD and typical symptoms.
The CPD will also give you an understanding of OCD, the symptoms and how they impact clients. Only medical professionals can diagnose OCD, but you will be able to recognise the symptoms, helping you support client based work. As you gain background knowledge of OCD, it will allow you to build rapport with your clients as you share your knowledge in the brain explanation.
The session will cover:
- What we do works, including case studies
- What is OCD, its subtypes and unhelpful thought patterns?
- DSM-5 classification
- What is the latest research saying?
- Diagnosis
- What causes OCD
- Treating OCD, including CBT and medication.
- Our SFH approach, including
- Key elements of the SFH brain explanation relevant to OCD, anxiety and depression
- Common issues when asking the miracle question and how to overcome these.
The importance of understanding OCD is why this CPD is also an integral part of the Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma course (AHD).
