About the Course
Delivered during Perinatal Mental Health Week in 2026
This half-day CPD will give you a better understanding of the issues and the confidence to support and work with clients who have experienced or are experiencing Perinatal Mental Health issues, Pregnancy Loss and Birth Trauma.
Mental Health during Pregnancy and the Postnatal period (known as Perinatal Mental Health) is an emotive and complex topic which is not limited to Women. Antenatal anxiety and depression and other complex mental health issues, can occur spontaneously or as part of previous mental health issues, and the ability to help women during pregnancy will benefit them postnatally and into the rest of their lives and their relationship with their baby.
Helping women with Postnatal Depression, OCD, Pregnancy Loss, Birth Trauma and PTSD is hugely rewarding, whether it is relatively soon after the birth of their child or many years later. This CPD is delivered in conjunction with Jen’s Working with Women CPD or as a standalone CPD.
Course details
During this CPD, you will learn how Birth Trauma occurs and how Pregnancy loss can be handled with care and respect. Providing support for partners is also essential, and during this CPD, we also look at Non-Birthing partners with Postnatal Depression and Birth Trauma PTSD and support them as Hypnotherapists.
This CPD aims to enable you to adapt the IC by providing background information on perinatal mental health, guidance on how to support during sessions, and strategies for tailoring your marketing to women and their partners. We will cover:
- Perinatal Mental Health
- Baby Brain – how the brain is affected during pregnancy and the postnatal period
- Antenatal Mental Health
- Postnatal Depression
- Pregnancy Loss
- Birth Trauma and PTSD
- Non-Birthing Partner Postnatal Depression
- Birth trauma and PTSD for non-birthing partner
- How we can help as Solution Focused Hypnotherapists
