Continuous professional development (CPD)
CPD requirements for the AfSFH follow the CNHC guidelines, which is a minimum of 15 hours per year with at least 10 hours directly related to hypnotherapy.

Supervision Requirements
| Students | Adequately supervised during their training by lecturers qualified and approved as AfSFH supervisors. |
| All other members | 6 hours* per year with an AfSFH approved supervisor |
| Supervisors | 6 hours* per year with an AfSFH approved supervisor. This is the only group able to conduct Peer Supervision due to the fact that they are all AfSFH approved supervisors. |
*Definition of Supervision Sessions
2 x Group supervision sessions (3 hours per session) or
6 x Telephone/Skype sessions (Each session 1 hour in total, may be broken down into smaller sessions as long as the cumulative total is 1 hour per session) or
6 x Individual face to face sessions (Each session 1 hour in total, may be broken down into smaller sessions as long as the cumulative total is 1 hour) or a mixture of the above.
For example, 1 group session, 2 telephone sessions and 1 face to face session.
Who can be approved as an AfSFH Supervisor?
1. An AfSFH member who has passed the CPHT NCFE level 5 Supervision Course.
2. An AfSFH member who has passed the NCH NCFE level 4 Solution Focused Supervision Course. This course is based on the CPHT Supervision Course.

Compliance with the New Requirements
The AfSFH has to meet CNHC and UKCHO obligations in order to remain a member of those organisations.
The Compliance Officer will audit at least 10% of the AfSFH membership to ensure compliance with the requirements.
The compliance checks are not there to catch anyone out and help will be available for those who have issues with CPD or Supervision compliance.
