About the Course

This recently updated CPD and now extended to a full day CPD is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to better understand and address the unique challenges women face in their reproductive lives, thereby enhancing your ability to provide effective care.

During the CPD, we will delve into the practical aspects of understanding women’s reproductive health. We will cover the differences between the male and female brain, examine the Menstrual Cycle, and provide foundational knowledge to help practitioners understand how hormonal changes affect women. This knowledge will empower you to help women reduce stress and anxiety and regain control over their bodies.

Given that 1 in 5 women experience anxiety and depression, and women in the UK are more than twice as likely as men to have a Common Mental Health issue, it’s crucial to understand that these statistics are linked to the hormonal changes women undergo during their reproductive lives. This CPD is a vital step in addressing these mental health issues.

This CPD explains the differences in women and mens brains, various events, including PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome), PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder), low libido and sexual dysfunction, common Gynaecological issues such as endometriosis, anxiety, and depression relating to pregnancy, pregnancy loss, birth trauma, contraceptives, and their effect on the brain.

This CPD’s objective is to allow you to adapt the IC with knowledge of the background information about women’s reproductive health and adapt your marketing towards women’s health.

We will cover:

  • A brief look at the differences between the male and female brain
  • The Menstrual Cycle – An Overview
  • Cyclic changes in hormones
  • The hormones and the brain – Effect of stress on reproductive hormones
  • PMS/PMDD/PME – aetiology, history and treatment
  • Sexual Dysfunction – Libido, Vaginismis, Dyspareunia, Orgasmic Dysfunction
  • Contraceptives and their effects on the brain
  • Common Gynae Issues: Endometriosis, PCOS
  • Perinatal Mental Health, including
    • Antenatal depression and anxiety
    • Postnatal Depression
    • Pregnancy loss

  • Solution-Focused Approach – how we help
